Shifu: The Art of Japanese Paper Spinning

Adele Harvey will be teaching us how to spin paper.
Adele will fill us in of the history of spinning paper yarn in Japan. She also
has many samples to examine. She will discuss various kinds of paper to use and
demonstrate the process of preparing the paper, spinning it, and using the yarn
in weaving. Then we will get to try our hands at the spinning process
ourselves. Bring a hand-crank bobbin winder, a light to mid-weight drop
spindle, or a spinning wheel and your curiosity.
