BASD is offering an EXOTIC FIBERS Workshop led by Robin Russo!
This is a full day spinning class that covers cashmere, yak, camel, qiviut, llama, alpaca, mohair, pygora, angora and silk. We will spin from raw fiber, commercially prepared fiber, and our own fiber preparations. The class will cover wheel adjustments, spinning techniques and fiber preparation, and will also discuss each animal’s geography, history and fiber properties. This is a very good introductory class for spinners who have not had the opportunity or have been afraid to explore some of the luxury fibers.
Robin Russo lives in Bradford, Vermont where she teaches spinning, felting, dyeing and working with exotic fibers. She has been teaching since 1989 at gatherings of spinners, weavers, knitters and historical societies. She has been a fiber enthusiast for more than thirty-eight years and takes every opportunity to explore its potential. Robin will have some additional fiber and spinning-related tools for sale at the workshop.

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including time for lunch
Location: Old Town Hall 375 Great Road Stow MA
Workshop Fee: $100 (payable in advance to BASD) BASD members will get preference until August 26th. After August 26th, registration will be opened to non-members at a fee of $125 (including a one year membership), if space is available.
What to Bring: wheel or drop spindle and hand carders (Robin will bring some sets of carders) and your lunch.
Materials Fee: $18.00 (payable directly to Robin at the workshop)
Maximum attendance: 25
Minimum attendance: 8
